Today we had our first look at the west Grinstead cycle track on the Downs Link.

We found the surface good to ride on the whole, although the trask was somewhat muddy due to the recent weather.

The track is fairly level (it ruddy well should be as it was a train track)  with the usual loose earth / gravel type construction.

The start of the ride was somewhat different as we started by going through a level crossing gate then proceeded to ride through the platforms on the old track bed.

This was a short ride by our standards, but the weather was on the turn and, without gloves, the old digits were feeling the cold.

We now know that we might want to consider mudguards to prevent returning with muddy bums !

This is a ride wewill visit again, once winter has passed us by.
