Today we decided to get this year’s walking account underway with a relative easy, shortish walk and no mud.
So we drove up to Jack and Jill and strode out to the Beacon and back, a fairly short (by our standards) walk of 4.23 miles
The signpost at the top of the hill has weathered a treat
The Serengeti dew Pond has filled up a treat with the rain
It was good to see the dew ponds had filled with water again, but the good drainage of the downs had prevailed and the path was not muddy.
The views were excellent, however we could have done without the wind.
There is an unusual contouring on the top of the brow near the Beacon, the northern slope looks down on the path up from the base of Beacon road from Ditchling.
All in all this was a good start to this year’s walking – 4 miles down, 220 to go :-O
