Went for a stroll round Chertsey going initially to Weir Road
Then headed up to Abbey Road and across town to the Staines Road
finally I headed back along the riverside.
Now we all know that when you cycle uphill your breathing has to work harder, and that you take deeper breaths.
So when you ride out of the village after Kings Barn Farm you start ascending a hill,
‘So whats the problem’ I hear you cry – well just north of theย farm is a sewage works, just what you need is great breaths of foul smelly air ๐
Yes went for the longest ride so far, all 26.1 miles of it, and it’s mission accomplished ๐
I rode to Henfield with Iren leaving her at the Cat and Canary whilst I set off on the longer run,
Unlike last week there were no issues with wrong turns in Bramber, I was straight down to the Castle, across the A283 and down to the airport.
The warm weather of last week had dried the trails, but this lead to new issues, riding downhill on loose shingle like road surfaces does make the bum twitchy !
It was a good ride, in lovely weather (without getting cooked) and I was not alone in wanting to hit the bikes, they were everywhere, with riders young and old !
1 things bugs me about this ride, what sadistic swine decided that an uphill climb (where you need to breath deeply) should by the side of a sewage works :-O
Picked up Iren when I returned to the Cat and Canary before completing the last 4 1/2 miles back to the car.
It was only when I got home that the legs decided to grumble ๐
sorry about the 2 halves of the map, there was too much distance covered for 1 screenprint. ๐
2 rides today,
The first being a long ride to Cuckfield and back, with the loop down Oathall and back up Sydney Road – and just to be masochistic I did this twice !
I went for this with a view to clocking up a decent distance and improve my stamina,
As this was the Saturday I had to go into Heath Road and through to Church Road as the market was blocking the broadway – in other words more hill work, oh joy !
Nothing much to report on the ride, except there is nothing better for curing constipation then a chuffing great lorry right behind you whilst climbing a hill !
The 2nd ride was through the cycle tracks with Mum and Irenย from Mum’s to Tescos and back enjoying a coffee at the store.
This was not too bad and it was good to ride with both Iren and Mum again.
I have to say Tescos in Burgess Hill is woefully lacking in cycle racks ๐
Went for a shorter walk around chertsey at lunchtime – i was leaving early so felt that taking a shorter break would be seen as extracting the urine.
I walked passed the Bourne club onto cycle path 4 through to the Staines Road (next time it’s back along the river which looks far better)
Then walked through the town and returned via Free Prae road and the riverside path on the other side of work.
It was a lovely day, too good to be sat indoors ๐
Went for what is becoming a usual Thursday lunchtime ride round town and to Cuckfield.
This was one of THOSE rides, with the odd surprise thrown in !
Surprise #1, it was harder getting tp the traffic lights in the Broadway, then found I was in middle ratio not low – DUH !
Rode round to Cuckfield then returned to town to drop down Oathall Road, and found Hazelgrove Road was slightly easier to get up ๐
Whistled down Oathall then found the ascent up Sydney Road was easier than before and was able to use middle ratio again ๐
Finally went up Perrymount in middle ratio ๐
I can see that I will have to try the old circular run to see how much I have improved ๐
