01/06/2014 – Towpaths and loops in the locality

Went out for a morning ride on the hybrid

Rode up to the station then down the hill to the turning by the Queens Head

Crossed the river and and rode to pick up the tow path

Carried on the tow path past New Haw, the Basingstoke Canal and West Byfleet

When I came to the bridge near the priory I found it full of ramblers who had no consideration for other users of the pathway & bridge. The bridge is narrow, it’s wide enough for 3 persons maximum, it has low side barriers and sits right on top of the weir, not good if you fall in. This lot seemed loathe to give anyone coming from the opposite direction any room – eventually the mob gave enough room for an irate Hippo to push his bicycle over the bridge. That lot clearly did not share the Ramblers code of the countryside for all, they wanted it all for themselves.

At the Priory I crossed the river then picked up the lane from Send

Went to the outskirts o Woking and then headed for West Byfleet on the A245

Rode all the way back to the Brook lands Road

Came up the Brooklands Road and carried on to the Station

Went down Hanger Hill, and along Queens Road

Retuned home on St George’s Avenue
