21/08/2011 – Clayton to Wolstonbury Hill and back

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Just a short walk today as I left it late (around midday) and it had got warm and muggy.

Parked up at the carpark by the mills at Clayton and set off for Wolstonbury.

Strolled up the hill and then looped back viewing Red Earth’s sculpture Fold then headed back

As I had set off without bringing a drink I erred on the side of caution and went back to the car,

with an earlier start and carrying fluids I would have probably gone on the the Beacon  or further.

20/08/2011 – Mum get’s on her bike

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Yep, it’s another ride by mum following on from her Shoreham attempts there was this:

Near mum’s home there are some cycle tracks, so we used these for today’s ride.

Unlike Shoreham these are not level with undulations to teach use of the gears and make you work.

Mum did far better than shoreham, I was proud of her, she knew she had improved and it showed.

Here’s the video of her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwYJOJiyFpk

20/08/2011 – Ditchling Beacon to Blackcap and back

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Yep, I revisited this for a decent ride – well 5.24 miles is better than around 2 🙂

After the usual fun and games driving up the Beacon (cyclists on a tight twisty road) I parked up and unloaded the bike,

Although there was a sponsored walk going on I have to say I’ve seen more walkers on the trail.

The latter end of the first field was entertaining avoiding cows that were either pregnant or with calf, not the best time to pass through a herd of cattle :-O

Once through the cattle it was a usual ride through to Blackcap and up the hill to the Trig point.

Returning I took the opportunity to have a natter with one of the Marshalls before ascending from Blackcap Down.

Disappointedly I had to get off and walk a couple of times on the return, the biking stamina and leg muscles need building up a bit.

Overall it was a good ride that builds on my distances travelled this year.

There are two videos covering the return from Blackcap:
