25/05/2012 – a ride round Chertsey after picking up the MTB from Birdies

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Went and collected the Mountain Bike from Birdies after having a service.

Rode back to work to drop a bag off then went over Chertsey Bridge to Laleham Park.

Returned to town and continued to Carcraft before riding along the river back to work.

24/05/2012 – Haywards Heath to Cuckfield and back via Gander Hill

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Took the new bike to Cuckfield, riding back through the village rather than taking the bypass (this was because of the following reasons: a) limited time, b) still not sure of how low the bottom gear is for tackling the bypass, c) it’s ruddy hot here right now)

Rode back through town

Dropped down Oathall and then returned via Gander Hill

Today I wandered round to the Woburn Arms to grab a menu then set off for town

I walked up Wier Road then through town to eventually reach Carcraft

finally I walked back along the river 🙂

21/05/2012 – A stroll around Chertsey (via the Post Office)

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Yep,it’s another stroll around town via the Post Office

I have to say walking with the warmer weather is a much more pleasurable experience 🙂

This followed the usual stroll alongside the river then through town and back to the office.

20/05/2012 – Riding between Newhaven and Seaford

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

Drove down to Seaford and parked in the usual carpark just out of town.

Iren and I then rode to Newhaven, before returning and going on through to the Martello Tower.

We had a brief comfort stop before riding back to the car.

It was one of those days where nature was on the move (on the cycle path this took the form of caterpillars wandering across the track, on the way home it was a woodpecker by the side of the road feeding on a tree)

The weather is finally turning warmer 🙂

19/05/2012 – Haywards Heath to Lindfield and Back on the new bike – take 2

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Rode again to Lindfield, this time crossing town before zooming down Oathall and heading for Lindfield.

Unlike last time I turned round at my usual point and did the now customary return via Gander Hill

It’s still early days with the new bike but the distances are now mounting up 🙂

19/05/2012 – Haywards Heath to Lindfield and Back on the new bike

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Rode to Lindield and back on the new bike to compare it with the mountain bike ride from last week.

This bike is faster and easier to ride, but it has higher gearing, and the hill out the back of Lindfield was a hill too far 🙁

I tried by the legs lacked the energy to get up it so had to turn back and come home, although I did ride through Gander Hill.

Although this was not a completely successful ride, it was the furthest I have ridden on the racer 🙂 and it wasn’t that long ago that doing 5 miles on the moutain bike would be a challenge 🙂

18/05/2012 – both bikes ridden in Chertsey

Friday, May 18th, 2012

Today I took the mountain bike into Birdie bikes, and collected the racer.

I rode along the river to Carcraft, then rode round to Birdies to swap the bikes.

The racer has had new brake levers fitted, and it feels much better for them, the mountain bike is in for a service.

I now rode to Chertsey Bridge, rode under the bridge and returned to ride past Carcraft and along the river.

It has to be said, you do notice the difference that suspension makes (or rather your bum does!)

However it has to be said that 3.35 miles on the new bike is the best so far. I did 1.61 on the old bike.
